Our customers valueSAFETY, QUALITY, ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS and SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Sustainability

Our business is based on safe, high-quality products that are manufactured sustainably. We ensure that our products meet all necessary safety standards, conform to international certification systems and are ever more environmentally friendly. We also look after our employees by providing a comprehensive induction process and emphasising occupational safety and wellbeing. Virtually all our steel comes from Finnish steel producers. We strive to primarily utilise low-emission, ecologically sustainable steel from suppliers with a smaller-than-average carbon footprint for the industry. We favour material suppliers who strive to reduce their carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

Quality and Safety

We observe the standards of international certification systems in the design and manufacture of our products.

MACHINE SAFETY

What we value most is the quality and safety of our products. These are ensured by a thorough familiarity and compliance with the Machinery Directive and the EN ISO 14122 standard concerning fixed access platforms. We also observe regional standards (SSG Sweden, OSHA Oceania and North America). These standards form the basis for the physical requirements we apply to our service platforms. We also consider aspects such as choice of walking surface, factoring in roughness and grating mesh size according to the environment, detachability of railings for maintenance purposes, swing gates, roller guard and barrier mesh size and the load placed on platforms. Further information can be found here.

PLANT STANDARDS

Premekon has years of experience in different factory environments and the standards of different plants. We account for individual plants’ preferences regarding the physical structure and profile of service bridges. Factors such as railing thickness, tread and grating mesh sizes, double mid rails at heights and safety colour codes are things we consider as early as the tendering phase.  We are also capable of consulting on appropriate surface finishings for different environments, preparing lifting plans and drafting erection drawings and HSE plans according to the customer’s requirements. We take care of access control and labour reporting.

RELIABLE PARTNERS AND SUBCONTRACTORS

High quality is one of our highest priorities. That is why we pay special attention to ensuring the reliability and quality of our subcontractors. Our subcontractors work in accordance with our certifications, and we only work with companies we know well and whose operating models and values reflect our own. Our partnerships last years, which is what allows us to offer our customers reliable turnkey deliveries.

Employee Safety

Our company’s most precious resource is our staff and their wellbeing. Every new employee undergoes a comprehensive induction that introduces them to the company’s operations and everyday work. We observe occupational safety instructions closely and offer our employees comprehensive occupational health and insurance services. Safe and pleasant work is achieved together. Our company-wide occupational wellbeing team is constantly developing Premekon’s practices and environment.

Sustainable Development

We have an ambitious goal of making our operations even more ecologically sustainable. The measures we are taking to reach this goal include the following:

  • Primarily using Finnish steel from suppliers with a smaller-than-average carbon footprint for the industry
  • Transitioning from natural gas to green district heating provided by Lappeenrannan Energia
  • Commissioning an extensive survey of greenhouse gasses and our own carbon footprint and identifying areas in which we can operate in more environmentally friendly ways based on that survey
  • Reducing the amount of material used in the design phase
  • Reducing welding in our workshop and work sites by utilising bolted connections
  • Using more ecologically friendly pallets
  • Improving waste recycling
  • Reducing VOC emissions from the company’s surface finishing processes by, for example, utilising a single-coat paint system and TEKNODUR COMBI 3560-75’s high solids content. For more on this topic, visit: https://www.teknos.com/fi-FI/teollisuus/showroom/premekon
