Premekon supplied nearly half a million kilos of steel for Helen’s Eiranranta heat pump plant project. The scope of supply included pipe bridges, maintenance walkways and stair towers, spiral staircases, and frames for compartment walls.
During the project’s active phase of one and a half years, the milestones agreed with the customer were successfully met. “Installation on site went really well. There were very few instances where steel components had to be remade or reworked,” says Project Manager Mikko Kaartinen.
The amount of structural steel, the schedule and the ease of installation were optimised to accommodate the challenging environment and tight timeframe. Special solutions were incorporated into the design to allow the structures to be transported through a tunnel into the underground cavern and installed in confined spaces alongside other work. Kaartinen adds that this is precisely the added value Premekon brings to a project where the logistical challenges are greater than those of an above-ground installation.
